Karen Lopp

Steeped in her pioneer family history, Karen Lopp has always been drawn to the courageous lives of the women who lived through the hardships of settling the West and who triumphed. Born and raised on a farm only a mile away from the homestead claimed by her great-grandparents during the Oklahoma Land Run, Karen now lives in the Land of Enchantment—New Mexico. Books and the tales of her ancestors were the staples of her childhood entertainment and Karen fell in love with the American West and its colorful history. After discovering short stories her great-grandmother had written Karen took the plunge and began to write her own stories with the encouragement from her husband and three children. Now hooked, she draws her inspiration from her research into her family tree and the stories she's unearthed. When she isn't writing or tracing her roots, Karen is tending to her hollyhocks, keeping up a competition with her dad on who can grow the tallest.
